Boys' adventure novel of attempts by various scientists and others to communicate with or travel to Mars all unsuccessful. This edition bears a copyright date of 1901, presumably for the year in which the story first appeared in Golden Hours (March 30-May 18, 1901) as "To Mars With Tesla, or, the Mystery of Hidden Worlds." A revised and / or abridged dime novel version was issued by Street & Smith in their Bound-to-Win Library (30 November 1905, number 145) as Adventures in Other Worlds. Printed on wood pulp paper which is darkened and somewhat brittle; first leaf (publisher's ads) has two marginal chips (one affecting a few words of text), title leaf has several tears, paper cover chipped at spine ends, otherwise a very good copy. In spite of faults, a nice copy of this very fragile book. Enclosed in a cloth slipcase with leather spine label and ribbon pull.
