Item description from seller

First edition. Although this particular edition issued for the Caledonian is not listed in Albert M. Cohn's bibliography of Cruikshank's works, this is Cohn's own copy with his bookplate on front pastedown and penciled note, "of the greatest rarity/ have seen no other copy/ AMC." Cohn has also penciled names or initials at the head of 2 plates (opposite pages 25 and 35) identifying the characters pictured as, left to right, George Cruikshank, his brother Robert, and Pierce Egan. 12mo gilt-stamped quarter reddish-brown leather with matching cloth boards; 64 pages. Illustrated with twelve unattributed hand-colored plates by or after Cruikshank, including the frontis. Good or better with spine ends and tips worn, hinges starting, and text block showing scattered foxing, edge wear, and staining. Housed in a lovely marbled paper-lined silk moire chemise and gilt-stamped leather-backed red cloth slipcase, both of which are fine. Quite scarce. OCLC locates only a handful of copies in libraries.…
