Presumed American first edition (no Doubleday statement as to edition/printing but with matching 1971 dates upon title and copyright pages). xxiv, 426 pages. Hardcover: H 23.75cm x L 16cm. Dust jacket with wraparound pictorial b/w illustration credited to Douglas Wink; dj rubbed, soiled, and toned; shallow chipping, tears, and some creasing at edges; front flap retains publisher's printed price at bottom right. Red cloth with black spine lettering. Deckle fore-edge. Toning to endpapers; soiling at gutter margins of front endpapers; interior leaves are clean. Binding retains some crispness. A revised and updated English edition of author's original French work "Histoire du Climat Depuis l'an Mil" published in 1967.
