First edition, first printing. Publisher's original second state yellow cloth with green titles to the spine, in the John Minton illustrated dustwrapper. Illustrated with eight full page colour lithograph plates, 42 full-page black and white plates, and 39 further small black and white drawings within the text by John Minton. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping at the spine tips and rubbing at the extremities, the cloth with a few light marks to the lower board is otherwise bright and fresh. The contents, with a small inscription to the front endpaper and spotting to the prelims and closed text block edge, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has several tears without loss, a few old tape repairs to the underside and some toning to the spine and panel edges. Not price-clipped (21s net to the lower front flap). Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. All items are catalogued by humans. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.…
