Item description from seller

Handsomely bound in maroon cloth boards with gold characters to front and lettering to spine. Book shows very little sign of wear, just some light foxing to top edges. Slight pencil annotations to flyleaf, otherwise unmarked. Dust jacket intact and protected by a plastic cover, light foxing to front and back more pronounced towards the top edges. Minor tears to bottom spine of jacket and small piece missing from top spine of jacket. This is a translation of one of the standard works on Chinese pottery and porcelain, centred on Ching-te-chen but covering every kiln or kiln site in China known to the compilers. This is an indispensable source of information and inspiration for all who appreciate these beautiful objects. As well as descriptions of production techniques and styles, there are anecdotes, fables and tales about the place of Chinese pottery and porcelain in life and folklore.
