Item description from seller

Entire issue, 30pp, printed pictorial red wraps, stapled at spine as issued, very clean, bright copy, inside and out. A complete issue of the fanzine Opel, published by Ivor Trueman, in the U. K., which includes Malcolm Jones' first-hand account of working with Syd Barrett on Barrett's first solo album, The Madcap Laughs, EMI, after Barrett had left the Pink Floyd. Includes set lists, session info and take numbers, plus info on Pink Floyd sessions and gigs. Jones was head of EMI's Harvest label, which would release The Madcap Laughs album in 1970. From the Introduction, "Scarcely a year goes by than the rock press, rather like the Times and the first cuckoo of spring, report a 'sighting' of Syd Barrett, usually in Cambridge or London. Whether these reports are accurate is uncertain, but every since the early seventies the myth surrounding the man seems to have mushroomed. There is a growing army of admirers who would see him as some sort of living legend, even though his total recorded output consists of little more than three albums. Legend or otherwise, I was able, in a modest way, to be able to assist Syd in recording some of his best remembered solo recordings (I produced the first 'Madcap Laughs' sessions amounting to half of the album). This publication is a straight, factual account of the making of the album. As I kept all my studio production notes and files, what follows is an accurate account of events in those few months of 1969." Please note, magazine looks self-published -- and almost certainly was -- and is filled with invaluable information for the serious Syd Barrett fan. Very scarce.
