"Carson McCullers was one of the seminal American writers of the 1940s. Her novel The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (1940), about a deaf man and the people he encounters in the Deep South, marked McCullers as a literary sensation. Her work focuses on the downtrodden, the forgotten and the oppressed, giving a voice to those most often overlooked. In this beautiful collector s edition, fans of McCullers can find her works collected to celebrate what would have been her 100th birthday.".
