Item description from seller

Octavo. Number 69 of an edition of 250 copies, one of 125 for private distribution. Printed by John Johnson at the University Press, Oxford. Laid-in is a card printed "Compliments of Carl H. Pforzheimer." Pp.xxviii, 54, followed by an unpaginated facsimile of the copy, in the Pforzheimer Collection, of Surrey's translation of Virgil. Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey (1617-1647) was among the first to use blank verse in English. He was executed in the Tower under Henry VIII at the age of 30. The Introduction outlines the evidence for the date of this undated printing by John Day, probably some time in the 1550's, and is followed by the text of the translation. A near-fine copy in maroon cloth boards, titled in gilt to front and spine. T.e.g. Tiny spot at gutter of front endpapers, else fine.
