As new condition photographic boards. Includes Preface by Paul McCartney, November 2000; Foreword by Linda McCartney; Introduction By Robert Lassam; Appendix A: Photogenic Drawing; Appendix B: The Cyanotype Process and Bibliography. Profusely illustrated with photographs. "Her photography laps up all that she felt was great in the world." - Harper's Bazaar. "As well as her love for her family, she [had] a sincere concern for the conservation of the environment and for animals. This is reflected throughout her choice of pictures." - from the Introduction by Robert Lassam. "In early 1993 Linda was giving an interview to the editor of a British art magazine which culminated in the question "What is inside your eye?" Linda replied: "Seeing. Most people don't look out. Most people don't see. I actually see. Make sense to you?" For almost 30 years I was privileged to watch how Linda saw; what she saw through a lens and what she saw in people. Her perception, both photographically and psychologically, forever amazed me. Linda's vision was her being and her camera was its condiut, and, as such, her pictures were as much a print of Linda's soul as they were a shot of their subject. Linda saw the complexity of simplicity and she saw this most in Nature, her greatest inspiration. Being no fan of anything artificial like electronic light or chemical compounds, it was typical that she would be drawn to the uncontrived magic of sun printing, Nature's process of revealing an image. As the wonder of sun printing was neglected after the 19th century, there is here a hipness in Linda looking back and, through this book, re-pioneering its original beauty in the face of technology's progress. But that, too, was very Linda; as a photographer and as a person, she was both ahead and a 'head' of her time. Most of all, sun printing is about light and the pictures in this book reveal not only its gentle use but also serve as an inspirational reminder of the light that was Linda, herself a brignt sun whose photography and vision casts beams on all our lives." - Paul McCartney, November 2000, from the Preface.…

Store description
Vero Beach Books is an antiquarian bookseller with a constantly updated inventory of rare out-of-print books, signed books, children's books, plus a large inventory of ephemeral items such as major U.S. city newspapers going back 100 years and more, golden and silver age fine condition comic books (soon to be added), and many other ephemeral items as well as much more recent popular volumes. We have been in business for 25 years, originally known as Emerson Books (named after one of our owner's favorite authors, to wit, Ralph Waldo Emerson) located back then in Westport, Connecticut. That said, we are here to serve you, to offer you fine quality items that are conservatively described so that you will always be pleasantly surprised and delighted with your purchase. Twenty-five years in the bookselling business has borne out our stellar service oriented reputation; the only difference is that now we are located in the almost always sunny and warm climate of Vero Beach, Florida. Again, we are here to serve you and, as was the case when we were previously known on ABEBooks.com as Emerson Books, we will continue to offer our very popular 100% free search service for those hard to find books rare and out of print books. Oftentimes we are also able to obtain these rare finds at very good discounts to our customers' so it is always worth contacting us in such cases!
