Hornsby challenges the egotistical "number one" mentality that dominates society and offers an alternative view, emphasizing the importance and value of the second-in-command role. The book outlines the difficulties, opportunities, and personal traits needed to thrive as a leader in the second position, making it clear that these leaders have just as much potential to influence and drive success. Drawing from his vast experience as a church leader and missionary, Hornsby provides practical insights and wisdom on the skills and leadership qualities necessary for second-in-command leaders. This book serves as an invaluable resource for those in leadership positions looking to excel and make a difference, whether in the church, business, or personal growth arenas. …

Too often people have the mentality that second place means second class. Pastor Billy Hornsby sets out to debunk that mentality by showing there are many benefits in being second in command.
Hornsby explains that what makes the number-two position difficult is often caused by the environment we grow up in. For the most part, it is an egotistical world that only looks out for number one. He points out this is a dangerous mindset. Everyone is subordinate to someone—some board, some coach, some law, some other leader. To think that there is no hope of making a huge difference in this world from the number two position is to believe that only a lucky few will ever know significance.
Hornsby outlines the difficulties of being second and provides an in-depth look at the key personal traits, leadership skills, and qualifications of those second in command.
About the Author:Billy Hornsby is director of the Association of Related Churches (ARC) and Mission TIPS (Training Indigenous Pastors). The A.R.C. and Mission TIPS holds training seminars, plants cell churches, and provides oversight for these churches in the U.S. and around the world. He has been in the ministry for more than twenty-four years, and as a missionary in West Germany for five years. He is a published author who does seminars on maintaining strong productive relationships and leadership. Billy serves as the European Regional Coordinator for Dr. John C. Maxwell’s EQUIP organization and also serves as the director of Seacoast International.

Shipping terms
DOMESTIC SHIPPING:
We offer a choice of media mail (when applicable), first class, priority and/or expedited whenever possible. Choices for shipping methods vary and will appear at checkout (as well as additional opportunities to purchase insurance, extra insurance, etc.). All domestic orders include tracking.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:
International shipping has become increasingly complex, but we do our best to keep up. If you have any questions regarding shipping to your country, feel free to reach out before you order. We will do our best to give you an exact quote.
All international orders include tracking and insurance. Expedited orders generally ship via USPS, DHL or Priority Mail International depending on the destination. Consolidated shipping is usually via Asendia or a similar, reliable carrier.
**VAT, Fees & Taxes: **
Where your country requires, and when under the value threshold set by your country, VAT is collected at checkout and remitted by the marketplace you ordered through. Any additional fees, duties, or taxes your country or carrier charges upon arrival are the buyer's responsibility (collected by your postal service or carrier when the package is delivered). The one exception is the European Union (see below).
The European Union:
As of 2026, the EU has added a new customs duty on every parcel entering the Union. Because of this, we are now required to prepay all duty and customs (DDP) before shipping, which is why you may notice that our EU rates run significantly higher than other countries. Additionally, on orders over 150 Euros, the full VAT tax due, over and above €150, is most often not collected by marketplaces at checkout. We may contact you through the marketplace you ordered to collect these additional VAT fees before shipping.
Typical speeds:
Although customs and overseas carrier delays sometimes happen and are outside of our control, the following should be a good guide (Business days only). If you need it faster, feel free to reach out. Sometimes we can achieve the “almost” impossible :)
