Hardcover: Condition: Near Fine: First edition, first impression; very clean and bright spine and boards with firm corners; no previous owner's marks or gift dedication; faint flap shadow to end papers, otherwise very clean and tight text block with no sunning or spotting, other than slight spots to page edges. Dust jacket condition: Near Fine: no losses or tears to pictorial wraparound illustration to front and rear panels and spine, just a few tiny nicks and scuffs to some extremities; not price clipped. The front flap has an unusual four-paragraph signed testimonial from the publisher, Robin Lay: '.certainly the finest novel which I have read in manuscript form in all my time in publishing'.
