About the Author: David A. Fanella, Ph.D., S.E., P.E., F.ASCE, is Senior Director of Engineering at the Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI). He has 30 years of experience in the design of a wide variety of buildings and other structures. Dr. Fanella has authored numerous technical publications and recently authored the Second Edition of Reinforced Concrete Structures: Analysis and Design, published by McGraw-Hill.He is a member of numerous America Concrete Institute (ACI) committees, he will serve as a member of the ASCE/SEI Committee 7, Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures for the 2022 edition, , and is a past board member and president of the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois.
