Item description from seller

Octavo. Original publisher's blue cloth and pictorial dust jacket. Black and white illustrations throughout by the author, patterned endpapers, spine and covers lettered in gilt. Spine a little dulled, dust jacket with loss to head of spine, a little loss to jacket folds (and with some tape reinforcement to verso). A Very Good copy of the book in a Good dust jacket. An unusual and early book in English on Chinese cuisine. Issued simultaneously with a US issue published by E. P. Dutton, this copy retains the fragile and visually striking dust jacket. The first nine chapters are dedicated to Chinese foods and dining habits. From then on the work lists 101 recipes in longhand, mostly with general guidelines and omitting measurements or quantities. The work includes advice on where to shop and eat (UK locations in the present edition, American locations in the US edition). Very Good in Good dust jacket.
