Add to basket1968 Walt Disney Productions "The Story of Little Red Riding Hood" Disneyland Record and Book Set - LLP 328 - Jean Aubrey Narration - UK Pressing - Complete with 7" Vinyl & 24-Page Book
For sale is a charming and complete 1968 vintage Disneyland Records read-along set: The Story of Little Red Riding Hood, catalog number LLP 328 (also listed as LLP-328). This is the UK edition, published by Walt Disney Productions Ltd., with the book printed in England by the Upton Printing Group. It includes the original 24-page full-color illustrated softcover book and the matching 7-inch 33? RPM long-playing vinyl record.
About the Production:
This beloved children's read-along package features the classic fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood, adapted for young listeners. Narrated by Jean Aubrey, the record includes the full story read word-for-word as it appears in the book (perfect for following along), plus delightful songs related to the tale. Tinker Bell's bell cues signal when to turn the page, making it an engaging and educational experience for early readers and non-readers alike. The set promotes literacy by encouraging children to "SEE the pictures, HEAR the record, READ the book."
The story follows the traditional tale with a gentle Disney touch: Little Red Riding Hood bakes cakes with her mother, delivers them to her grandmother through the forest (meeting the sly wolf along the way), and encounters the dramatic climax with the woodsman?s timely rescue, ending in a happy celebration. It emphasizes themes of caution with strangers and family bonds.
Illustrations:
The book boasts vibrant, full-color illustrations throughout in a charming mid-century cartoon style with bold lines and playful details (reminiscent of UPA-influenced Disney animation art). The cover depicts the Big Bad Wolf (in a blue hat and shirt) confronting Little Red Riding Hood and her dog on a flower-filled path. Interior pages show warm domestic scenes (baking with mother), forest adventures, the wolf in grandmother?s clothing, and the joyous resolution. No specific individual illustrator is credited on the item, but the artwork is attributed to the talented in-house artists at Walt Disney Productions.
Condition: Very Good+ Overall
This set is in excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of age and use consistent with a 58-year-old children's item. It has been well-cared for and remains fully functional and complete.
Book: The 24-page staple-bound softcover is bright and colorful. Covers show light edge wear, minor creasing, and faint storage rubbing/scuffs (typical for the thin card stock). Spine is tight with no splits. Interior pages are clean, crisp, and free of writing, tears, or major marks. Light soiling/foxing is present on the last page / endpapers (minor, superficial discoloration, does not affect text or main illustrations).
Record: The 7" vinyl is flat, clean, and plays excellently with minimal surface noise. No scratches, warps, or labels issues. The original paper sleeve is included and intact.
Packaging: The original gatefold-style sleeve (pink front with wolf/Red illustration; yellow/red back with record graphic and listening children) shows light wear, rubbing, and age-toning but remains attractive and structurally sound.
This is a perfect condition copy for display or gentle use with children/grandchildren, far above average for surviving examples of this scarce UK pressing.
Collector's Notes:
Disneyland Records read-along sets from the late 1960s are highly sought after by Disney enthusiasts, vinyl collectors, children's book aficionados, and nostalgia fans. LLP 328 is a charming and less common UK variant. Complete sets in this condition are increasingly difficult to find.
A wonderful piece of Disney history that brings the fairy tale to life! Ideal for collectors, vintage toy/book enthusiasts, or as a special gift. Please review the photos carefully (provided) and feel free to ask any questions.
