True first British printing. No jacket as issued. With illustrations in colour by Evelyn Paul. All illustrations are present and in very good condition. Original tissue guard to frontispiece still present. Dark red boards with gold lettering to spine and front and illustration to front are very good with a little pushing/bumping to corners, minor browning/fading to spine, a few very small marks, a few small bumps/rubs to edges and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/slight fraying to the cloth) to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Top of pages gilt (little rubbed/scratched). Rough cut page edges and bottoms have the odd small mark/minor foxing. End-papers (very) tanned with a few marks/spot of foxing. Previous owner's name, date and location in pen inside front board. Pages bit tanned. Occasional small marks/scattered foxing to pages.
