The Steps of the Sun by Walter Tevis. Collier Books, 1990. First printing with full number line in good plus condition. Binding tight, covers bright, pages lightly and uniformly toned, inside covers darkly toned. Major issues are small front corner chip, and chip on lower back cover. (see photos) The Steps of the Sun is Walter Tevis’s ambitious and thought-provoking science fiction novel exploring global energy scarcity, geopolitical power, and the moral costs of technological salvation. Set in a near-future world on the brink of collapse, the novel reflects Tevis’s characteristic blend of psychological insight and speculative urgency, making it one of his most underrated works outside The Queen’s Gambit and The Man Who Fell to Earth. A compelling and underappreciated science-fiction novel examining energy, power, and global survival.

Store description
My late wife and I spent a lot of time accumulating books, especially during COVID. With her gone, the books are a reminder of her. Hence, it's time for me to Turn the Page. Update: Please note I have recently moved to New Mexico (September 2026) where our chihuahua, Pedro, will no longer have to slog through snow and ice - the state where my beloved wife and his mommy lived before we met. Thank you for all your orders since opening this storefront!
