This copy has some aging or light soiling on the covers. The corners are bumped and the boards show slightly. There is also light edgewear and some interior foxing, mainly on endpapers though there is light toning along the edges throughout. The defects are largely a resulr of the inexpensive publishing materials. This copy is square and securely bound with no tears or parting. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 234 pages; This is the first American edition of part (the mss is incomplete) of Joyce's original draft of The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. It was edited by Theodore Spencer from the original manuscript in the Harvard Library. This version makes an interesting comparison with the first published edition of the work.
