Item description from seller

A smart first UK edition of this play from Chilean poet-diplomat Pablo Neruda, a review copy with original reviews. Dual language book with both the original Spanish text and translation into English. First UK edition. Review copy with the publisher's original notice and two published reviews from newspapers. A musical play considered a poem or cantata following the Chilean highwayman Joaquin Murieta, known as the Robin Hood of the West or the Robin Hood of El Dorado, through his life, handling his rage, and eventual death. Neruda captures the dramatic sense of this tale through poetry. Written by Pablo Neruda, a Chilean poet-diplomat and politician who won the 1971 Nobel Prize in Literature. Translated by Ben Belitt, an American poet and translator. In the original soft cloth wraps. Externally, very smart with minor wear and a tide mark to the spine and boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light age toning to the endpapers. Very Good Indeed.
