Description:
Fourth edition (published in the same year as the First Edition) of this scarce work debunking Spiritualism and those who claimed to see ghosts. Through the use of 16 illustrations (13 hand coloured) the author shows how the illusion of seeing a ghost can be created. The "List of Plates" identifies what colour illusion a plate will create. "Plate II. this black figure will give a white spectre." etc. Blue boards with text (in ten different fonts !!) and a spectral figure looking particularly Scrooge Like floating across the front board. The rear board has adverts for Griffith and Farran books recently published. Red cloth spine. A touch of darkening and some rubbing (with two areas of loss to the rear panel). A couple of creases and edgewear to the boards. Title page has a small closed tear (repaired with archival tape). The rest of the book is clean, with a little handling to the pages. An attractive copy of a scarce work. 11, XVI. pp. 250 x 200 mm (9¾ x 7¾ inches). . Seller Inventory # 3834
