This Seeley and Co. edition (1896) is of interest to collectors of Victorian gift books, illustrated prose anthologies, and late 19th century decorative bindings. About: A handsome Seeley & Co. gift-book edition with an exceptionally well-preserved decorative binding: deep navy cloth with rich gilt decoration to the front board featuring cherubs, scrollwork, fan motifs, and period figures - all bright and sharp. Spine shows some darkening and light wear at head and tail. Pages toned at edges; interior clean and bright throughout. Inscribed to the front free endpaper: Rudolph Beer, Elmwood, Bickley, 1896 - a same-year association copy. A very presentable example of this attractively produced edition.
