In Speaking for Myself Again Cheryl Kernot steps out from the party shadows and the media spotlight to tell what happened during her four years in the Australian Labor Party. No matter what preconceptions you have about Cheryl Kernot, within this revealing memoir you will find a woman dealing honestly with the slow unravelling of her political life. Cheryl details the early euphoria of joining the Labor Party, the broken promises she was forced to deal with, her dawning disillusionment with the traditional political processes, the campaigns against her, the effects on her health, the toll on herself and on those she loves, her attempts to rescue herself, and the ultimate loss of her seat in the federal election of November 2001.
