Tan cloth boards with brown lettering and bull skull design on the front panel, same skull design on the back panel, oblong, 9 x 11, not paginated, 11 drawings by Texan illustrator Harold Bugbee.A very small finger smudge on the front panel is noted, text and images are clean and unmarked, previous owners name and hanko stamp on front free endpaper, newspaper article highlighting the release of this volume laid into rear causing a faint shadow, sewn binding is tight; brown slipcase is slightly edge worn.Published by prolific designer and typographer Carl Hertzog, this specific edition arose from an idea to share local lore and history for an advertisement for The Shamrock Oil and Gas Corporation of Amarillo, Texas. A history of eleven trails in all; Great Comanche War Trail, Old Santa Fe Trail, Fort Smith-Santa Fe Trail, The Marcy Trail, The Butterfield Trail, Arkansas River Route, The Goodnight Trail, The Western Trail, The National Trial, The Rath Trail, Tascosa-Dodge City Trail.
