Text in English. 125 pp. Scratching and rubbing on dust jacket. European classical culture has from the beginning been the expansive culture of the conqueror also spiritually. It has penetrated into all corners of the world. It is at the same time a culture tied to languages. Different language groups within it defend their own identities. Europe has thus preserved the wealth and the many facets of its culture. Genuine regional cultures live beneath Western mass culture, even if they are threatened. This can be studied in the form language of objects by everyone who has learned to read it. This language reveals the soul of design. Finnish design is tied to the severe terms of Sub-Arctic nature. Like a refrigerator, the cold climate has pre- served models of thinking and acting tried out in practice. The strong contradiction between winter and summer is reflected in product ideas and in a form language, which at best is extremely simplified and extremely saturated.
