Two nostalgic annuals full of puzzles and cartoons, based upon the popular children's TV character Sooty. Two volumes in the original pictorial paper boards. The first and second annuals based on Sooty, a character from the British children's television show created by Harry Corbett in the late 1950s. The franchise was centred on the adventures of the loveable bear who performs magic tricks and practical jokes. The early annuals, such as these two, were published by the London Daily Mirror; later annuals were published by Purnell and Sons. The annuals feature an expanded cast of characters including: Sooty, Sweep, Cokey the Clown, Mr Fuss-pot, P.C. Nab and Calico Joe. Apart from an ink inscription to the title page of the second annual, and a couple of small images that have been neatly coloured in on one page of each annual, these annuals are in unusually clean and smart condition. In the original pictorial paper boards. Externally bright and smart, with minor shelf wear to the head and tail of the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean and vibrant in colour. One small image to page 33 of the first annual and a couple of small images to page 41 of the second annual, are neatly coloured in. Small closed tear to page 49 of the first annual.
