A biography of Dwight Eisenhower in a complete but worn jacket. This jacket is rather splendid, with a superb colour portrait on the front, and with the famous speech printed on the back when Eisenhower was in London. There is a neat inscription dated 1948 on the half title, but this adds period charm rather than amounting to a fault. Doubleday issued this first edition with an untrimmed leading edge to the text block. The binding is firm but the green cloth binding corners are 'soft'. Not a perfect First Edition but still collectable. The endpaper maps are of interest. The contents reveal the character of this fine example of democracy in action.
