Hardback. On 7 April 1988 the author was car-bombed in Maputo, capital of Mozambique, by agents of South Africa's security forces. He was on his way to the beach. Six years earlier Ruth First (like him a member of the ANC) had been assassinated, this time the victim lost and arm and the sight of an eye, and suffered horrendous fractures and shrapnel wounds, but survived to write this moving and eloquent account of how, in London, he gradually came to terms with his shattered body, and triumphantly returned to face the scene of the explosion and to complete his run on the beach. 203 pp.(We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).

Review
A highly personal and sensually explicit odyssey concerning his own damaged body at the same time as writing a book imbued with apparently undaunted idealism concerning his damaged mother-country South Africa. --Times Educational Supplement
I've never read anything quite like this book, wild, loving, sad, with humour striking deep as emotion. --Nadine Gordimer
