Item description from seller

First UK edition. 188pp. Hardback in dust jacket. A couple of small spots to tail-edge of text block. Jacket heavily rubbed and slightly sunned to spine. Jacket design by Kaye Bellman.*** Burroughs' "immediate successor to The Naked Lunch". It was originally published by The Olympia Press in 1961. A second version (very different from the Olympia Press edition) was published in the USA by Grove Press in 1966. Burroughs reworked the novel again for this Calder edition, adding roughly 20 pages of new material and restoring some passages discarded from the Grove version, amongst other changes.

Store description

Bricks and mortar bookshop in East London. We sell second hand and collectible books. Most subjects are covered, but we are especially strong on literature (both paperbacks and first and rare editions), music and photography. Only a small part of our collection is available online. Please get in touch if you're looking for a particular title, or pop over to our shop in Leyton, East London. We are proud of our history as a renowned second hand bookshop, trading many years on the famous Charing Cross Road. In 2020 the Charing Cross Road shop closed down. After a period of trading online only, we opened our new premises in June 2024.
