Volume 2 only. 216 p. 33 cm hardcover buckram rebind from the New York Public Library. Text has appearance of typed manuscript that has been bound. Ex-library with residue from labeling on spine, stamps, penciling, taped endpaper from a repair, sticker and envelope on endpapers. Two minor tears in margins of title-page. Large tear along left edge of front free endpapers. A few small tears in margins elsewhere on front endpapers. From title page: "Compiled from the works of Ash, Bailey, Barrere, Bartlett, B.E., Bee, Cleland, Cotgrave, Dunton, D'Urfey, Dyche, Egan, Farmer, Florio, Grose, Halliwell, Harman, Johnson, Mayhew, Matsell, the Lexicon Balatronicum, and other sources." A book of antiquated slang terminology with etymological details that focuses mostly on terms related to sexuality and gender.
