From the personal library of Menil Collection museum founder Dominique de Menil, with an inscription to her on the half title: "Dominique / you'll like the / breaks in silence / of this gentle / man. Joyeux noel / a famille and lots / of vigor for 1967! / with love, love, / love, Simone / Christmas 1966." The dustjacket has been price-clipped, and has significant wear with tears overall. There are also significant bumps to the edges of the boards, particularly at the foot of the spine, with some insect damage along the edges of the boards, and a bit of foxing to the fore-edge. But, for all of that, the binding is secure, with no other internal markings. The philosophies of John Cage seem to have had a significant interest for Dominique de Menil and the evolution of her museum, which makes this association particularly interesting.
