Item description from seller

A handsome example of the very scarce first edition of Nathaneal Salmon's detailed guide to the peerage and nobility of England in the mid 18th century. The vanishingly scarce first edition of this work. A more common second edition was published in 1758.An impressive account of the English peerage and nobility, detailing the names of the nobility, alongside their marriages, issues, ancestors, posts, arms, motto's, and chief seats. With an extensive index to the rear.ESTC N478420Rebacked, with endpapers renewed, but with engraved armorial bookplate laid down to front free endpaper. The work of Nathanael Salmon, an English antiquary who was industrious and well travelled, but not respected by the scholarly community. Rebacked, in a contemporary panelled calf binding. Endpapers renewed. Externally, excellent. Armorial bookplate laid down to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, with only the odd light handling mark. Very Good Indeed.
