First edition with the illustrations by Walter Crane. Double title page. In partial dust wrapper missing nearly all of the spine panel, otherwise all main elements are present. The front panel of the dust jacket is a composite design that is different from the two title pages. Virtually unknown in dust wrapper. This book was the first entry in the famous Turn of a Century exhibition. This book is generally found with cracked hinges due to some fault in its construction; in this copy, in keeping with its superior state of preservation, the hinges are barely starting. To minimize further damage photography of the book, the contents of which are well known, is restricted.
