A DARK MYSTERY
"From the stunning opening sentence to the startling finish, SHARDS is a great read all the way. SHARDS is one hell of a book." -Ed Gorman, author of HAWK MOON, THE FIRST LADY, and THE AUTUMN DEAD
Nathaniel Follows, a young writer of detective novels, is haunted by a family heritage of abuse and murder. Following the break-up of his latest relationship, Nathaniel is drawn into a strange erotic dance with a vulnerable, and physically scarred woman named Susan. When Susan commits suicide, Nathaniel is quickly sucked into a conspiracy that not only threatens his life, but stirs the rage he harbors in his blood. Struggling against his heritage, hurt by the loss of the woman he loves, Nathaniel finds himself trapped between the police, who are suspicious of his involvement, and the forces lurking behind her death.
"Piccirilli is a brave explorer of the darkest crevices in the human soul. He is masterful at providing the kind of descriptions that flavor the best mystery fiction." -MYSTERY NEWS
"Piccirilli elbows his way onto the mystery bookshelves with fists flying, guns blazing, razors flashing, and a secret hidden behind everyone's smile." -DEATHREALM
"SHARDS is bound to please any reader. A story of a guy solving a murder, while dreading the darkness of the past. SHARDS is a real success." -Jack Cady, author of STREET and THE OFF SEASON
"Piccirilli is the guide on a fast-paced tour into the dark heart of mystery. There is plenty of action, two-fisted and knife-edged." -PIRATE WRITINGS MAGAZINE
