"Shale Gas: The Promise and the Peril" by Vikram Rao Ph.D., published by RTI Press Books on July 13, 2012. This paperback edition is in Like New condition. The covers are in great shape, the binding is square and tight, and the interior pages are clean, bright as new, and unmarked, though there is minor abrasion on the title page.Shale gas has the potential to transform the U.S. energy-based economy in the electricity, transportation, and chemical sectors. U.S. success in shale gas can be expected to influence Europe and other parts of the world. Shale gas production is uniquely enabled by hydraulic fracturing, a technique that has come under heavy scrutiny for its potential to cause environmental damage. In this book, Vikram Rao addresses the issues surrounding shale gas in a balanced fashion. The book aims to inform both sides of the fracturing debate, where rhetoric often overtakes understanding. It is tailored for a nontechnical audience, with technical chemistry and geology information included in sidebars. The book culminates in suggestions for research and guidance for policymaking. The book will be carefully packaged for shipment to ensure protection from the elements. A USPS electronic tracking number will be issued free of charge. Feel free to contact us for more information or pictures regarding the book.…

Store description
Alien Bindings is an online bookshop located in Baltimore that has been in operation for nearly 20 years. Alien Bindings caters to the sciences including the physical sciences, astronomy, mathematics, computer science, the social sciences and medicine. I also dabble in a wide array of other categories including antiquarian books and history. I run a clean, green business. I try to reuse clean materials for packaging whenever possible. For example, books are carefully packaged frequently using clean cardboard for custom made boxes, recycled paper is used for printed labels and recycled plastic or bubble wrap is used for a weather-proof barrier. I drop the packages off to my local post office via foot or cycle in order to further reduce the carbon footprint.…
