Item description from seller

This unaccountably scarce autobiographical Bildungsroman by William A. Sturdy was written under the pseudonym of Isaac Didwin. The binding is very worn and heavily edge-rubbed. There is a fingernail-sized piece missing at the bottom left side of the spine. The book is clean and tight throughout with a slight crease across the rear paste-down. Nine full-page illustrations in black and white support the narrative from Isaac's first shaking the apple tree, to his family experiences, an encounter with a bull, his first time shaving, and military experience, etc.An uncommon first edition. First Edition with matching dates of 1886 on the title and copyright pages.
