1st edition. Hardcover. Fine green cloth with gilt spine lettering, extremely clean contents with no marks or foxing at all on the pages or text blocks, an owner's namestamp on the front endpaper, in a very near fine dustjacket, not price-clipped. An exceptionally nice copy of this classic story of life in a boys' school between the two world wars, set in a remote corner of Exmoor, as seen through the eyes and the heart of a master, David Powlett-Jones. Included is a card signed by the author with the words 'Cordially/ R.F. (Wormseye) Delderfield', this being a tongue-in-cheek nod to the title of his 1943 play 'Worm's Eye View', also a film in 1951. The book itself was memorably filmed by BBC tv in 1980, with John Duttine as Mr Powlett-Jones. Very scarce in such condition and with the signed card. Seller Inventory # PSHB8444
