A decent hardback copy, but with some rubbing to the full leather binding and a graze to the bottom right-hand corner of the upper cover (please see images). There is some foxing to the front and rear blank free endpapers (not the attractive marbled ones), and a crease to the top right-hand corner of the title page (see image). The binding is sound and secure and the contents are clean and bright. Overall, a decent copy of the first edition (1848) in a rather rubbed full leather binding.
