From the preface: ''This is essentially an enlarged and revised second edition of a collection of problems which consisted of a text by Gol'dman and Krivchenkov augmented by a selection from a similar text by Kogan and Galitskii. In preparing the present edition I have used the opportunity to revise some of the problems in the first edition, to change a few of the solutions, and to make the notations both uniform and conforming to English usage. Also, I have added a few problems from a collection by Irodov on atomic physics and a number of new problems which were mainly taken from Oxford University Examination papers.''
