Henry Holt and Company, New York. 1947. Hardcover. Stated 1st Printing. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for former owner name on front pastedown dated 1949. Book Condition: Very Good: bumped head and tail; light wear on tips, head, and tail from shelving; slight flaking of spine gilt. No DJ. Red cloth boards and spine with gilt lettering on the spine. Factory tipped in frontispiece photo of White. 460 pp 8vo. Some of William Allen White's best writing was in his letters and not his publications as he could write letters under no restraint. This volume contains the cream of the letters in the vast White collection-he kept carbon copies all letters he wrote from 1899 to his death- which show the growth in American democracy and the swiftly changing American scene. A clean very presentable copy.
