About this Item
Marjorie Bowen writing as Joseph Shearing. Basis for the 1949 film noir, So Evil My Love. In a variant dustwrapper - a plain red background, with black and white horizontal stripes. A UK first edition, first impression. THE WRAPPER : The wrapper on this copy is bright and complete. It is unclipped, showing the price 9s 6d on the inside flap. The front panel is unfaded, showing an insignificant tinge of overall soiling and a touch of rubbing and bruising to the top edge. The spine corners are nicked. The spine is unfaded. It is slightly rubbed at the head and shows a slither of loss at the tail ( affecting the letter n in Hutchinson ). The back panel is sound. It shows an overall patina of soiling and gentle wear ( bruising, a single, short closed tear ) at the top and bottom edges. Looks sharp in protective plastic. THE BOOK : The book is square and very tight. The boards are clean and unfaded. The corners are sharp. The spine ends are bruised. The pages are clean. No foxing. The closed page edges are sound - the top edge is slightly dusty. There are no loose or dog-eared pages. The binding is solid and without cracked hinges. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. The book has a slight lean. A nice copy in a protected wrapper. Paypal accepted. Seller Inventory # 003324
