About this Item
First UK Edition. 252pp + 8pp of publisher's catalogue. Publisher's light brown boards, spine and front lettered in black. General smudging and spot-staining to cloth; spine ends softened and worn; wear along joints; board edges worn, particularly at corners, and bumped. Text block softly dulled, particularly along edges; top edge darkened and a bit soiled; remaining edges foxed, with a small spot of rubbing at bottom corner; end-papers foxed, especially front; partially erased ink marks at front pastedown; occasional marginal foxing or spot-soiling scattered throughout interior; one or two instances of previous dog-earing. A VG copy (no D/W). This is the first appearance of Herbert Adams' lawyer detective Jimmie Haswell, but here he has a relatively minor role. Instead it is Tony Bridgman, a professional golfer and Haswell's buddy, who is the intrepid sleuthing hero. The novel begins with the search for a lost golf ball that sends Tony Bridgman to unravel the Secret of Bogey House, ostensibly an innocent pleasure resort. There is bridge, tennis, boating and golf. A golf-themed mystery. Photographs/scans available upon request. Seller Inventory # 355490718427
