Cover is a little spotted, top edges are gilt, other edges are untrimmed, deep sanguine boards are richly patterned. Gilt title. Tight binding. No weak joints. The lithographic portrait frontispiece of the composer is plate indented and has the original tissue guard. Clear and beautiful letterpress with little foxing except on the two colour title page.Several illustrations in the text, with gravure portraits of key figures.
