The first printing of the 1930 London first edition. Original black quarter-cloth over papered boards printed in gold, green, beige, and black. Professionally rebacked with original spine relaid. Some rubbing and handling wear to covers; spine titles flaked away, but imprint still barely legible. Top edges toned. Otherwise internally clean, bright, tight and unmarked. Hardcover. Condition: Good. First Edition. First American edition, second printing with page numbers beginning at the Preface (page 7), and no errata slip present at page 25. Good. No dust jacket. Boards are soundly bumped at three corners, with cardboard exposed at all four. Reflective, decorative covers otherwise in quite presentable shape. Black cloth of spine has a short tear at back edge of head and a tiny bit of loss at both head and tail. Interior hinges are weak in spots, but still holding. Book is unmarked. Very good; light shelf wear, slight rubbing to forecorners and edges, rubbing to spine and gold title, light oxidisation to gold foil on boards (less than usually found with this edition); some spotting to page edges, occasional spotting to first and last few leaves, dustiness to top edge; binding sound, no inscriptions or annotations.
