He studied in France and the United States with renowned chef/teacher Madeleine Kamman. His writing has appeared in many national magazines including Food & Wine. Fran Irwin has worked for the San Francisco Chronicle's food section since 1977. She was a student of the late Josephine Araldo, and has also studies with Donna Nordin, Guiliano Bugialli, Marcella Hazan and Dianna Kennedy, among others.
