About this Item
Stated First Edition. 'An 87th Precinct Mystery.' You can see the black covers in the photos. They look pretty good. No conspicuous soiling, the black lightens a bit here and there. The gilt lettering on the spine is very bright. There some crinkling at the spine ends, a thin wrinkle a little below the top edge of the spine. There's a tiny crease at the front bottom corner. The book has a slight forward lean but is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout, just as you would want them, and nicely tight covers as well. The inside covers and endpapers, front and rear, are mustard-colored. They're very clean and free of wear. Pages 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 each have one to four very small tan spots on the print (not affecting one's ability to read the print). Then they are gone all the way through to page 91. The next eight or so pages each have a few of the same spots. Then over the next sixty pages they are gone again. Then there's a page with one or two spots. And then they're gone for the last 10 or 15 pages and the book ends. So the pages are mostly clean. The middle page edge is deckled or rough-cut (although it's not very rough) and I can see that there are these tan or amber-colored hue at the edges of some of the deckled page edges. That probably has something to do with these occasional spots, although some of them are not off the edge, which is a little confusing. The pages are in solid shape. I'm not seeing any conspicuous creasing, there's one thin, small crease just off one top edge. I didn't see any turned-down corner creases or placeholder creases. There are no markings in the book. There is no remainder mark (I saw a few folks reference such on their books). No attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. There's some scuffing at the top and bottom edges of the spine, one tiny one off both the front top edge and bottom edge. The jacket looks pretty clean. The flaps are in solid shape, each has a mild horizontal crease and a little crinkling at their bottom edges. I don't see any tears. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. It will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. From the dust jacket: 'A tough, taut and unusual mystery, told with Ed McBain's usual droll humor and thorough knowledge of big-city police procedure.'. Seller Inventory # 004186
