Bahrdt, a wild man of theology who, when unable to earn a living as a theologian took, from time to time, to innkeeping, was hounded for his views and earnt a living of sorts writing "indecent stories, coarse polemics, and an autobiography which is described as "a mixture of lies, hypocrisy and self-prostitution." (Wikipedia). However, he was also considered one of the most original theologians of his time. This book was his attempt to renounce, more orthodox Christianity for a religious moral system of his own devising. Half leather. Spine guilding rubbed and faded, paper spine label.
