About this Item
Pictorial cloth covered boards. Slight wear to edges. Some browning to free end papers. 95 pages clean and tight. PREFACE. By means of wonderful wireless, the bright personality of "Little Miss Kookaburra" has crossed hundreds of miles of ether (generally called space) and has touched the lives of multitudes of little children. That, however, is not the whole tale; for many of both sexes, and far more mature growth, have expressed by letters warm appreciation of, and even keen delight, in the work so joyously done by the invisible recipient of those letters. Now, during the babyhood of this very popular Bed-time Story-teller, there came into her life one, who, without being consulted, was re-christened by her. And so ready was the newly-named one to respond to every childish fancy that by degrees she almost forgot what her godfather and godmother in her baptism had called her. So did her friends. The fancy name caught on so thoroughly that a time came when to use any other was to feel rigid, stiff, unnatural. And that is one very good reason why, as writer of these stories, which are so far removed from stiffness, the re-christened one of a bygone day prefers to use the baby-bestowed designation "Idie." "Little Miss Kookaburra" and the one she re-named are still "pals," and "Idie" is the other half of the "palship." When the story-teller began to talk to unseen thousands, the story-writer put on paper fancies, truths, extravagant, harmless nonsense, and glimpses of optimism, all characteristic of the mind of "Little Miss Kookaburra." Now, to all whom it may concern, she adds the information that the writer of these stories is-"Idie." Size: 4to. Seller Inventory # 118766
