The covers are detached and the spine is lacking. The covers are also dampstained, bumped & rubbed with wear to the edges. 232 pages, illustrated with a portrait frontispiece by S. David, an extra engraved title page by G. Fath, 6 full-page plates by G. Fath and 8 plates by Gustave Dorà . There is a 2 inch tear along the top inner edge of title page and a few signatures (groups of pages) are slightly pulled. Complete. The pages are bright and clean and the book is well worth restoring. First edition in English, published in the same year as the first French edition.
