THE STARS: A STUDY OF THE UNIVERSE, BY SIMON NEWCOMB, PUBLISHED BY JOHN MURRAY, 1904. FIRST EDITION. A stunning, leather bound ex school science prize hardback book, with gilt titles on the spine and gilt school emblem (possibly Cranleigh School) on front board. Marbled inside boards and edge of papers, with school label on inside board, please see photos. This gorgeous book is in fine condition and as its a used book, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. In my humble opinion the book does look like its hardly been used or read. Tissue guard paper intact on and over title page. 333 pages all intact and tight binding, all pages are exceptionally clean, readable and in good fine order, only a few tiny marginal brown spots on first three blank pages and final two blank pages, which do not affect the overall look of this gorgeous book. Please note for overseas buyers postage/shipping may increase from listed postage/shipping price, depending on final destination. A truly fascinating book that would grace any stylish library and appeal to collectors of astronomy books from the beginning of the twentieth century. …
