SPAWN OF DYKES TO WATCH OUT FOR - A rarely available first edition copy of the fifth installment of the longest-running queer serial comic (strips #127-170, plus novella). The strip ran for 25 years with the characters aging in real time, a feat very few comic strips accomplished (GASOLINE ALLEY having set the bar quite high). Bechdel is really hitting her stride here, developing storylines that will carry the DTWOF characters into the next millennium: Toni has the baby (a boy), Harriet breaks up with Mo, and Lois ditches the flat top for a new style à la Ross Perot, cementing her position as the best drag king in town. The book ends with "Flesh & Blood", a novella centering on the birth of Toni & Clarice's baby, where Ms. Bechdel is honing the story-telling skills she will master by the time "Fun Home" hits the shelves a decade later. CONDITION: As New. 8.5" X 5.5", 136 BW pages in glossy color soft cover wraps. First edition, first printing unstated but assumed - Firebrand Books in 1993 continued to release excellent material but rarely sell out an initial printing - plus I bought this at Lambda Rising Bookstore the day it arrived from the publisher. This listing is posted by an actual human, not Ai. All photos/scans are of the item for sale, not stock images from the web. Condition and descriptions were written by the aforementioned human.…
