First Canadian edition ; 1919 in Roman numerals on title page match John Lane copyright date of 1919 on copyright page . Published ( simultaneously ?) in New York and London by John Lane. Author's first solely authored mystery preceded by two co-authored mysteries. A FINE book; crisp corners, no writing, no foxing, no damp etc in a VERY GOOD + jacket with slight wear to extremities and one unfortunate scar to the front panel ( probably from a hasty modern price sticker removal!). Price of $1.50 printed on spine. A RARE book in jacket. First appearance of Colwyn, a half English/half American "Sherlock Holmes" type detective. Seller Inventory # JD4104
